Privacy policy
Last updated on 5 November 2026
Short version: this site doesn't track you. The only personal data I collect is what you choose to give me in the beta survey, mostly your email, and I only use it to tell you about Flooow. The rest of this page says the same thing at the length the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) asks for.
Who I am
Flooow is built by me, Sylvain Maretto, as an independent maker. I decide what happens to your data, which makes me the data controller under the GDPR. If you have a question about your data, or want to use any of your rights below, write to me at hello@getflooow.com.
What I collect
- The beta survey. When you join the waitlist, you answer a few questions about how you build (your front-end stack, where your code lives) and give me your email address. That's it: no name needed, no payment details, nothing sensitive.
- Server logs. Like every website, this one is served by a host, Vercel, which briefly records technical data about each visit: your IP address, browser and the pages requested. I don't use these logs to know who you are.
- Nothing else. No cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting. The fonts are served from this site, so loading it doesn't tell Google or anyone else that you came by.
Why I use it, and on what grounds
- Your email, to tell you when the beta opens, invite you to try it, and occasionally ask for your feedback. The legal ground is your consent (GDPR, article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
- Your survey answers, to decide what to build first. Same ground: your consent. I may share what I learn in public, building in public and all, but only as overall trends, never anything that points back to you.
- The server logs, to keep the site running and safe from abuse. The ground is my legitimate interest in a working, secure website (article 6(1)(f)).
What I will never do
Sell your data, rent it, trade it, or add you to anyone else's mailing list. No automated decisions or profiling either: a person (me) reads the answers.
Who else handles it
Two services process data on my behalf, under their own data processing terms:
- Google, which hosts the survey (Google Forms) and stores the answers. Google's privacy policy.
- Vercel, which hosts this website. Vercel's privacy policy.
Both may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Those transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, so your data keeps the same level of protection.
How long I keep it
- Your email and survey answers: until you ask me to delete them, and in any case no longer than two years after you filled in the survey, or after my last email to you if that came later.
- Server logs: only as long as Vercel keeps them, which is a matter of days or weeks, not years.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can ask me at any time to:
- see the data I have about you, and get a copy of it (access and portability);
- correct it if it's wrong (rectification);
- delete it (erasure);
- stop using it, or use it less (restriction and objection);
- stop emailing you, by withdrawing your consent. Every email I send has a way out, and replying "stop" works too.
Just write to hello@getflooow.com. I'll answer within a month, usually much sooner, and it's free.
If you think I've handled your data badly, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work. Here's the list of EU authorities. I'd appreciate the chance to fix things first, though.
Security
The survey answers live in my own Google account, and only I can see them. No system is perfectly safe, but I keep what I collect small, so there's little to lose.
Children
Flooow is a tool for people who build software for a living. It isn't meant for anyone under 16, and I don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If what I collect or how I use it changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change matters to you, for instance a new use of your email, I'll tell you by email before it happens.
